At just 18 years old, Julie Alemán, became the first person in her family to pursue a university degree, following family and academic advice and most of all, leaving fears behind.

This Bright Stars student graduated from the Ileana De Gracia High School, in Vega Alta, and holds a certificate in commerce with a concentration in accounting assistant. She enjoys spending time with her loved ones and visiting different parts of the island with them. She is also determined to improve her English by practicing it every day.

Alemán gained recognition in the Regional Competitions of the student organization FBLA in the category of “Business Presentation” and “Financial Planning”, to name but one of her many achievements. Because of the hard work that Alemán has put into her studies, she was accepted at several universities. She is currently in her first year at Marquette University, where she is pursuing a degree in Marketing and Communications.

“My personal aspirations after graduating from university is to teach the youth of Puerto Rico that there are no limits, only excuses; that there are no fears, only barriers to overcome. I know that for many ‘not knowing English’ can keep you from aspiring for more, but that is why I am starting my path today. I want to teach you with my own story that you can. Professionally, I want to work with companies to help them grow with my knowledge (preferably with charities) and to be the voice for those people who think they are not enough”she said.

Kinesis Foundation is extremely proud to be part of Julie’s growth, the sky is the limit!
